If Murder Was the Case: How the Enemy Attacks Your God-Given Identity

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." — John 10:10 (KJV)

If the enemy could be charged with a crime, the case would be murder. Because he doesn't just assault your identity — he works to make sure it stays buried, so you never rise into the identity God gave you.

Think about it. We're born in sin and shaped in iniquity. Then life piles on its layers — cultural norms, trauma, everybody's expectations. And it seems like everyone has an opinion about who you are. You're pretty. You're smart. You're kind. You're important. You're ugly. You're fat. You're skinny. You're blessed. The list never ends. But who ever stopped to tell you that you are a daughter of God? And if someone did — do you actually know what that means, or what it looks like to live it?

The enemy wastes no time. He floods you with other people's opinions of you, and because you don't know any different, you start to believe the lies. Those lies begin to shape you. And before long, you've learned the most exhausting lesson of all: that you have to perform for love.

In this episode of The Beautiful Exchange, we name what's been buried — and we talk about how your true, God-given identity rises again.
