Privacy Policy

The Uncommon U, LLC | The Uncommon U

Effective Date: MAY 22, 2026

Introduction

The Uncommon U, LLC, also operating as The Uncommon U (“we,” “us,” or “our”), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect the information you provide when you visit our website, purchase our programs or services, register for a retreat, join the Healed Girl Community, take part in one-on-one or group coaching, engage with our podcast, receive our text messages, use our mobile app, or interact with us on social media. It also explains your rights regarding that information.

Please read this Policy carefully. We will note any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date above. Changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of our services means you accept the updated Policy. We encourage you to review it from time to time.

A Note About Our Coaching (Not Therapy or Medical Care)

The Uncommon U provides faith-based transformation and mind-renewal coaching drawn from Scripture and lived experience. Our founder, Merline Ulloth, is a coach and community leader — not a licensed therapist, psychologist, counselor, physician, or other medical or mental-health professional. Our coaching, content, community, podcast, and retreats are offered for personal growth and encouragement and are not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or mental-health diagnosis or treatment. Nothing we provide is medical, psychological, or legal advice.

Information We Collect

By using our services, you consent to our collection and use of the information described below for the purposes set out in this Policy.

Personal information.

Information that identifies you — such as your name, email address, phone number, and mailing or billing address — along with any details you choose to share when you register, make a purchase, complete a coaching or community intake, contact us, or take part in our programs. Providing this information is voluntary, but some purchases or features may not be available without it.

Information collected automatically.

When you visit our website or use our app, we automatically collect data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your visits. We collect some of this through cookies, analytics tools, and advertising pixels (see Cookies and Advertising below).

Payment information.

Details needed to process your purchases, refunds, or exchanges. We store only limited payment information; most of it is handled directly by our payment processors, Stripe and PayPal. You can review their privacy practices at stripe.com/privacy and paypal.com privacy.

Mobile app information.

If you use our mobile app, we may collect basic device information and send you push notifications about your account, programs, or community. [List only the device features your app actually uses — for example, push notifications. Remove any permissions the app does not request.]

Social media information.

If you interact with us on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn, we may receive the information those platforms make available based on your privacy settings, such as your name, username, and public profile details.

Recorded Coaching Sessions and Meetings

We use Zoom to host many of our coaching sessions, group calls, and meetings, and we may record these sessions. Zoom may also generate automated transcripts or written summaries of recorded meetings. We use recordings and summaries to deliver and improve our coaching, to keep records of sessions, and to follow up with you.

We will let you know when a session is being recorded, and you may choose not to be recorded. Zoom processes this data under its own privacy policy. We retain recordings and summaries only as long as needed for the purposes above [or for up to (retention period)], unless a longer period is required by law. You may request deletion of recordings or summaries of your sessions by emailing [email protected].

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate our business and serve you, including to:

       Deliver the programs, coaching, retreats, community access, and content you purchase or join;

       Process payments, refunds, and related transactions;

       Communicate with you and respond to your questions or requests;

       Send newsletters and updates you have opted into;

       Send text messages you have opted into receiving;

       Deliver and measure our advertising;

       Request feedback and run occasional surveys or giveaways;

       Improve our website, app, coaching, and offerings;

       Keep our services secure and prevent fraud;

       Resolve disputes and comply with our legal obligations.

When We Collect Information

We collect information when you subscribe to our newsletter, fill out a form, register for or purchase a program or retreat, complete a coaching or community intake, attend a recorded session, use our app, opt into text messages, or contact us.

How We Protect Your Information

Your information is kept behind secured networks and is accessible only to people who need it and who are required to keep it confidential. Sensitive information you submit is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, and payments are processed through PCI-compliant gateways (Stripe and PayPal) rather than stored on our own servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only to the extent needed for them to perform their service. These include:

       Payment processors (Stripe and PayPal) — to process your payments;

       Email and newsletter providers — to send communications you have opted into;

       SMS providers and aggregators — to deliver text messages you have opted into;

       Website hosting providers — to host our website and app;

       Zoom — to host and record coaching sessions and meetings;

       Analytics and advertising platforms (Google and Meta/Facebook) — to measure and deliver advertising;

       Cloud storage providers — to securely store our data.

Text-message opt-in and consent data is never shared with third parties except the providers needed to deliver the messages, and is never shared for anyone else’s marketing purposes.

We may also disclose information when required by law (such as a subpoena), to protect the rights or safety of others or prevent fraud, to enforce our Terms, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Cookies

We use cookies — small files placed on your device — to recognize your browser, remember your preferences, and understand how our site is used. You can set your browser to warn you about cookies or to refuse them; see your browser’s help menu for instructions. If you disable cookies, some features of our site may not work properly.

Advertising (Google and Facebook/Meta)

We advertise through Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and use their tools — including Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel — for analytics, remarketing, and interest-based ads. We may also use Custom Audiences, which securely match limited data such as an email address with the advertising platform. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, manage Google ad settings at policies.google.com/privacy, and adjust your Facebook ad preferences at facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.

Grounds for Processing Your Data

We collect and process your information based on our legitimate business interests (such as communicating with you and improving our services), to perform our contract with you, with your consent, and as required to comply with the law. You may withdraw consent at any time, though doing so may limit your use of our services.

International Data

Our services are hosted on servers located in the United States. If you access them from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and stored in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. By using our services, you consent to this transfer, processing, and storage. The transmission of data over the internet is never completely secure and is at your own risk.

Data Retention

We keep personal data as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law, or until you ask us to delete it. Session recordings and summaries are kept [for up to (retention period)]. Analytics and usage data are generally kept for a shorter period. We cannot control the retention practices of third parties; to have a third party delete your data, you will need to contact them directly.

Security of Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect your information and use recognized secure-payment systems and generally accepted security standards. However, no security measure is foolproof. We will notify you promptly of any known breach of your data that could expose you to serious risk, consistent with applicable Texas law.

Sensitive Information

Because our coaching is faith-based and personal, you may choose to share spiritual beliefs, personal experiences, and struggles with us during coaching or in the community. We treat what you share in these settings as confidential and use it only to serve you, consistent with this Policy.

Please do not send highly sensitive identifiers — such as Social Security numbers, full financial account numbers, or detailed medical or genetic records — through public posts, email, or text. If you do choose to share such information with us, you consent to our handling it in accordance with this Policy.

SMS / Text Message Privacy

If you opt in to receive text messages from us, we protect that information as follows:

       No data sharing: your text opt-in and consent data is never shared with third parties, except the providers needed to deliver the messages.

       No third-party marketing: your mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.

       Limited use: we use your opt-in only for the purposes you consented to, such as event and community notifications, reminders, receipts, support updates, and promotions you opted into.

       Opt out anytime: reply STOP to stop receiving messages; we will confirm your opt-out by text and stop sending. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to: update or correct your information; confirm what data we hold and how we use it; withdraw or change your consent; request a copy of your data; request that we transfer your data to another provider; request deletion of your data; restrict or object to certain processing; and request deletion of recordings or summaries of your sessions. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].

Emails and Marketing Communications

You may opt out of our marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email, or by emailing [email protected]. You may also opt out of having your information used for marketing purposes by contacting us at the same address.

Complaints

If you believe we have misused your data or violated your rights, you may contact us directly or file a complaint with a relevant data protection authority.

California Privacy Rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), California residents may request to know what personal information we have collected, to access or receive a copy of it, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. We may ask you to verify your identity and California residency before responding. You can make a request by emailing [email protected].

Residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws — including Texas under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act — may have similar rights and can contact us at the same address.

CAN-SPAM Compliance

We collect your email address to respond to you and to send information and updates. We do not use false or misleading subject lines or sender information, we identify marketing messages appropriately, we include our business address in our emails, and we honor opt-out requests promptly. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by emailing [email protected].
